Telling Popmama & Nana Kat

When the time came to share the news, this time we decided to go to Louisiana first. So we headed out "going to Popmama's." Yes, for those that don't already know, my mom has been "Popmama" since she's had grandchildren. There are four so far (3 girls and a boy) and that title has stuck all around. Most anybody in the area knows her as Popmama. We wanted a keepsake for the occasion but also wanted it to be a huge surprise. So we searched and searched for ideas. Eventually we decided on a scrapbook greeting card with enough pages to profile each of her grandchildren and, of course, the last page would be for the newest with an ultrasound photo. That way she'd be caught completely off guard as she read and looked at the pictures!!...as if she wouldn't be anyway...but we didn't want to just "tell her", you know. Needless to say she was thrilled! We were also able to share the news with my brothers & wives, Aunt Sheryl or "Auntie" (my 2nd mom), and "my little sister," Brooke, and my grandparents while we were there. What pure joy to share the news for the first time!! Marti was able to catch Popmama's reaction on camera...

Marti wanted her mom to find out for her birthday present....so when we returned to town we set out to surprise her also. Anyone who knows Kathy at all knows that she is a huge collector of Willow Tree Angels. Her collection has grown quite large over the years as it is a favorite gift for all of her "children" to give her. We found the perfect new Willow Tree for her collection....a little baby sitting by itself. We let "Uncle" Toby and "Aunt" Becca in on the secret and went to give her our "gift". With everything that had happened, it didn't take her long to decode the Willow Tree's meaning. After some debate, we think Kathy has settled on being called Nana Kat. All four of us love this as we couldn't see her as just being plain Mimi or whatever. The name seems to suit her. Aunt Becca was able to catch her reaction on camera for us as well.
